Our oyster farm, Water is Life Oysters, is part of Near Futures Farms and the only BIPOC, queer owned farm in Apalachicola, FL working to provide local, delicious seafood to the community and model sustainable and equitable shellfish farming.
Near Futures Feasts seeks to build a regional network of farmers, fishers, hunters, and gatherers who practice interdependence with one another and thereby independence from corporate food systems and industrial agriculture.
Research coming soon about the history and culture of BIPOC shellfish and oyster farming, indigenous oyster reef maintenance and eating well in a town of 2,700 people.
